Wine Folly References: The Wine Folly website describes Cabernet Sauvignon as one of the world's most popular red wine grape. It has primary flavors of black cherry, black currant, and cedar, and has quite a full body with medium-high tannins and medium acidity, while only being moderately dry. From specifically the Northern Coast of California, Cabernet Sauvignon tasting notes include blackberry, black currant, pencil lead, tobacco, and mint. In general, Cab Sauvs are recommended to be decanted for one hour, served in an oversized glass, and are aged on average for ten or more years. (https://winefolly.com/grapes/cabernet-sauvignon/)

My review: I'm a big fan of Cab Sauvs, so I was super excited to try this wine. Right off the bat, I noticed it had a really rich, dark cherry color, with dark fruit aromas coming out of the glass before I even had a chance to sniff it properly. The blackberry scents were the most prominent, with a sweeter tone of some raspberry and other lighter fruits. The smell overall was lighter than I expected it to be, but still had the darker nature to it that is typical of a Cab Sauv. The aromas were rich and full, and acted as a good lead-in to the taste itself. The overwhelming notes were that of dark fruit, mainly cherry and blackberry, but not too dark overall. It was a very pleasant taste that amounted to a very well-balanced body that I'd say was lighter in taste than dark. The tannins were there but not overwhelming whatsoever, and the finish was smooth and easy, making each sip rather simple going down. The acidity was moderate, giving it some extra character, but all in all, this Cabernet Sauvignon was simple, had great dark fruit flavors, and had a special kind of sweetness that I especially enjoyed.

With food? -- No.
